HANWORTH Villa came second only to Paolo Di Canio's Swindon Town in a national FA Cup giant-killing award.
The Villains polled 25 per cent of the vote for the Ronnie Radford Award for their exploits in knocking out Ryman Premier side Aveley in a qualifying round tie last year.
Only League Two champions Swindon got more votes for knocking out Premiership side Wigan Athletic, winning with 32 per cent, but Villa beat fellow giant-killers Stourbridge, Wrexham and Redbridge into second place.
However, there is another chance to land some silverware on Monday when Villa host Sandhurst Town in the Southern Combination Cup Final (3pm). After losing the 2010 and 2011 finals, Villa will be hoping to make it third time lucky.
Before that, the Villains were hoping to finally complete their Combined Counties Premier programme last night by playing their twice-postponed game at Chessington & Hook – called off on both Saturday and Tuesday.
If they win, the Villains will leapfrog Egham Town and finish third in their league, their highest ever position, which would be a remarkable achievement.
Another twice-postponed game which now won't be played, however, is Hanworth Villa Vets' Veterans Cup semi-final against Eversley Vets, after Villa withdrew from the competition.
