FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round
Harefield United 3 Woodford United 0
Harefield United romped to a 3-0 victory on Saturday as Woodford United were brushed aside in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup.
Daniel Fleming, Mark Sargeant and Paolo Cicero all got onto the score sheet as the home side easily won the game, booking their place in the next round in the process.
The Hares dominated possession from the off, and it was only sloppiness in the final third that prevented them from carving out any genuine opportunities.
While their offensive forces started poorly, Ryan Kinnane put in an exemplary shift at the back, calmly dealing with any threat posed by their away side, of which there was little.
Woodford's only real chance in the game came midway through the first half when a deflected effort forced the Harefield's goal keeper, Jonathan Peacock, initially wrong-footed, into producing a decent reflex save.
The Hares started the second half in a more determined mood as their midfield's control of possession improved and the ball started to move more slickly between men.
And with the increase in quality, it was not long before the scoring had been opened, in the 56th minute a good move between Ricardo Cannon and Mo Hashi was finished by Fleming in the area.
Harefield continued to dominate, and they doubled their lead just a few minutes later when Sargeant slotted in at the far post from an incisive Cannon assist.
Woodford began to fall apart, crumbling under wave after wave of attack, and in the 69th minute Cicero put the game beyond doubt, scoring with a free kick from the edge of the area.
Comfortable, composed and in control, the Hares progress into the next round of the FA Cup where they face Berkhamsted United, who beat United 3-1 in the league last week.
