UXBRIDGE'S second string are still awaiting their first league win of the season after being swept aside by the early league leaders.

Batting first, Uxbridge made a steady start through Gareth Stoneman (36), but once he and fellow opener Simret Mangat (11) were removed, a slew of wickets fell as the Acton pair of J Reeve (four for 29) and I Reeve (three for 19) turned the screw.

Only three other Uxbridge batsmen managed to get into double figures - Michael Darvill (14), Jonathan Tall (20 not out) and Rob Willis (26) - as they succumbed to 158 all out.

In reply, Acton made short work of reaching the target, with P Joshi (48 not out) and D Saggers (47) leading the charge as they coasted home for the loss of three wickets.

Acton's wicket takers were Edward Hills (two for 45) and Willis (one for 29).

Uxbridge travel to fourth-placed Barnes this Saturday (1pm).

Uxbridge 3rd XI 203-9 Winchmore Hill 189-7 Match ended in a draw

UXBRIDGE fought back hard to finish with a draw against Winchmore Hill.

Losing the toss, they lost Ronan O'Dea early on before Najeeb Faqir and Richard Tinsley built up a good partnerhsip.

Faqir reached his half-century before being dismissed, while Richard Tinsley batted well, scoring 43. Late runs from Aimal Bangash (42 not out) took Uxbridge to 203 for 9 in 55 overs. In reply, Winchmore got off to a good start and took full advantage of some dropped catches in the field.

They looked on course for a comfortable win, before a spell of pressure brought Uxbridge back into the game, thanks to Neil White (2-38) and Alex Morris (2-18), plus two run-outs.

And with Uxbridge only needing three wickets for victory and Winchmore still 25 runs short of the win, honours ended even.
