JAMIE Hand has rocked Hayes and Yeading by making a surprise loan move to Luton Town.

The ex-Watford midfielder, who was made club skipper by Nas Bashir at the start of this season, has joined the Blue Square Premier favourites until January when the transfer could become permanent.

Hand, who has also had spells at Lincoln City and Northampton Town, was looking for a move to another club during the summer and he came close to joining Didi Hamann's Stockport County.

However, that move fell through and after being installed as club skipper, Hand has been pivotal in Hayes and Yeading's encouraging start to the season by offering experience in the midfield holding role.

It is more the timing of the move that therefore comes as a surprise, but the 27-year-old's early season form impressed Gary Brabin in the recent 2-2 draw against Luton Town.

Ex-Gillingham midfielder Mark Bentley has now been named as Hayes and Yeading's skipper for tomorrow's trip to Grimsby Town.
