HAYES and Yeading have suffered a blow ahead of Saturday's FA Cup tie at home to Cambridge United with full-back Dan Spence ruled out for at least five weeks.

The ex-Mansfield Town man suffered an ankle injury in training during preparations for Saturday's 4-2 defeat to York City and is out for Saturday.

With Hayes and Yeading having failed to agree a loan extension for AFC Wimbledon defender Fraser Franks, Bashir is frantically searching for defensive reinforcements.

Assistant boss Tristan Lewis watched Brentford left-back Ryan Blake in a reserve team match last week with a view to a loan signing, along with Bees winger Kirk Hudson.

"It is a kick in the teeth for us as Dan has been doing really well," admitted Bashir. "He rolled his ankle in training and has got ligament damage so he is going to be out for at least four or five weeks."
