HAYES and Yeading will complete a loan deal for Stevenage’s Michael Thalassitis before Saturday's trip to Wrexham.

Boss Nas Bashir confirmed that a one-month loan for the 19-year-old is close to completion, United having held off from completing the paperwork due to the recent cold snap and matches being postponed.

Thalassitis had been lined up for a loan switch to a Football League club, but that failed to materialise before the the January transfer deadline and that allowed Hayes and Yeading to make a move in the emergency loan window.

Thalassitis, who signed a two-year professional contract with League One Stevenage last summer, enjoyed an impressive spell at Blue Square South Borehamwood earlier this season with five goals in 12 games, including a hat-trick against Dover Athletic.

He has previously played with current Hayes and Yeading striker Tom Collins when the pair were both at Stevenage Academy.

United have also received a boost with skipper Mark Bentley having returned to full training this week and Bashir must decide whether to throw him straight back, along with returning full-back Dan Spence.

But Hayes and Yeading have missed out on two targets with Chalfont St Peter striker Charlie Strutton having a trial at AFC Wimbledon and Burnham winger Harry Pritchard deciding to join Maidenhead United.
