HAYES and Yeading slipped to a third successive home defeat today after their kamikaze defending gifted Wrexham all three points.

Nas Bashir's men belied the 19 points difference between these two sides in the Blue Square Premier table for the majority of this match, but they handed Wrexham the chance to regain top spot by conceding two terrible goals in just over a minute.

Nathaniel Knight-Percival profited from the first defensive lapse on the hour when he stabbed home after Hayes and Yeading failed to defend a routine corner and then a poor backpass from Tom Cadmore allowed substitute Mathias Pogba to seal it.

The hosts should have been ahead in the 10th minute when Hector Mackie picked out Tom Collins and his cross fell perfectly for Pierre Joseph-Dubois, but he made a complete hash of the chance.

Then Luke Williams, who produced a lively attacking edge on both wings, threatened to do it all by himself, but his finish was comfortably gathered by Wrexham goalkeeper Joslain Mayebi.

Wrexham finally came to life in the 24th minute when Adrian Cieslewicz and Curtis Obeng combined well down the right, but Danny Wright's looping header was just over the crossbar.

The visitors began to put their stamp on the match as the first-half wore on but they failed to make anything of their superior possession against a Hayes and Yeading defence that looked solid in the first-half.

Wrexham player-boss Andy Morrell came close to breaking the deadlock though five minutes before the break with an opportunist 25-yard volley that Hayes and Yeading goalkeeper Steve Arnold was relieved to see go over the crossbar.

Hayes and Yeading had the first chance of the second-half when Soares fizzed in a cross from the left after an effort from Fraser Franks was charged down, but Joseph-Dubois failed to steer the ball home.

And Joseph-Dubois again failed to connect properly after a fine run and pass from Tom Collins had set him up.

But all Hayes and Yeading's good work went to waste just afer the hour when they conceded two goals in just over a minute - and they were terrible goals to concede too.

The first came on the hour after the hosts failed to deal with a routine Jamie Tolley corner and Nathaniel Knight-Percival fired home from close range.

It got worse for the hosts when the usually reliable Tom Cadmore gifted the visitors a second.

Wrexham substitute Mathias Pogba beat Arnold to Cadmore's weak backpass and he was left with the simple task of tapping into an empty net after the ball had rebounded off the Hayes and Yeading goalkeeper.

Arnold denied Jamie Tolley with a superb fingertip save, but two was enough for Wrexham as Hayes and Yeading struggled to mount a fightback in front of a crowd of 625 at Kingfield.

Hayes and Yeading: Arnold, John, Cadmore, Soares, Joseph-Dubois, Williams, Bentley, Mackie (Marsaud), Collins (Pacquette), Franks, Spence.
