HAYES & Yeading United are facing a race against time to have their new ground ready for next season.

United are hoping to move into their new home, The Sharda Glass Stadium, for the start of the 2013-14 campaign.

In order to start playing football at the Beaconsfield Road venue, the ground must first meet the National Ground Grading Category B standards.

An inspection must be carried out by the Football Conference by the end of the month and should the ground fail to meet the requirements, United will be unable to play there next season.

With less than three weeks to go before the March 31 deadline, no date for an inspection has been set and it remains unclear whether the Sharda Glass Stadium will be ready.

The Gazette has learned that the Football Conference has written to Hayes & Yeading to ascertain United’s plans for the forthcoming season.

As of this morning, a Conference officials confirmed that United are yet to respond to the letter and the club have not informed the league that they are prepared for a visit.

If Hayes & Yeading wish to extend their groundshare agreement at Kingfield they must strike a deal with Woking and inform the Conference of their decision by the same deadline.

Failure to do neither would mean United have nowhere to play their football next season.

Hayes & Yeading were approached for a comment on the stadium situation but were yet to make one as the Gazette went to press.
