LEWIS Price wants Brentford to bring in another keeper to fight him for the number one shirt.

With Nikki Bull going under the knife today and facing a lengthly spell on the sidelines, the 25-year-old on a season-long loan from Derby County is the only fit senior shot-stopper at Griffin Park.

The other option is rookie Simon Moore, who has yet to feature for the first team this season, with Price and Bull battling it out for the place between the sticks.

But rather than rest on his laurels, the Wales international wants more rivals for his starting spot.

He said: "Competition for places always improves you as a player.

"I'd rather have someone fighting me for the shirt because it keeps me on my toes, whether the gaffer brings someone in on loan or not."

Some fans are calling for Price to be bombed out after he dropped a clanger in the 2-2 draw at Gateshead on Saturday, letting Peter Winn's corner slip through his grasp (pictured).

But he insists he was fouled as he jumped for the ball.

"As I went to catch it I felt their player tug me back," he said.

"I ran after the referee but he didn't agree, so there's nothing I can do about it."
