WEST Harrow U15s maintained their unbeaten run thanks to the gift of four byes on the final ball of their innings against Hayes that resulted in a bizarre tied game.

Top order batsmen Jash Gandhi (47) and Rahul Radia (33) pushed their side to within touching distance but were both dismissed late on in the innings while chasing 140.

After winning the toss, stand-in captain Gandhi put Hayes in to bat, a decision that appeared to backfire as the opposition amassed a daunting 139 from their allotted 20 overs.

Thanks to a solid platform being built by the top order and some good running between the wickets, West Harrow needed 10 from the final over.

Hope seemed all but lost with five still required from the final ball until Hayes’ generosity with four ‘free’ runs.

Meanwhile, the U17s secured a home victory over local rivals Harrow.

Top scorers Ahmed Ali Dar (13) and Abhi Patel (10) helped West Harrow on their way to 81-9 from 15 overs.

Syan Patel was the most impressive figure in the bowling attack. He dismissed three Harrow batsmen for the loss of just two runs as they were skittled for 42 in 14.3 overs.
