ZAMARETTO LEAGUE Uxbridge 3 Gosport Borough 0

RYAN O'Toole bagged a brace as Uxbridge cruised to victory against Gosport on Saturday.

Boro showed the first signs of breaking the deadlock when Michael Turvey saw an early effort cannon back off a post, while at the other end, Lee Tunnell and O'Toole were denied by keeper Mark Brown. Other than that, it was a quiet first half.

The hosts made a breakthrough a minute after the interval when sub Mark Smith was hauled down in the box, with O'Toole dispatching the resulting spot kick.

Uxbridge went two up just before the hour mark when Tunnell beat the offside trap to score.

The visitors tried desperately to get back in the game, but could not find a way past the Reds' centre-half partnership of David Stevens and Mark Dennison.

In fact, it was Uxbridge who found the net again, O'Toole beating two defenders before firing past Brown. [25cf] Last Tuesday, the Reds were edged out by AFC Totton.

Despite O'Toole's effort, Uxbridge went in 2-1 down at the break.

The Reds turned up the heat and Tunnell netted after the break to put them 3-2 up, but then allowed Totton to score twice to snatch victory.
