SOUTH Ruislip sisters Lauren and Jenna Turner enjoyed plenty of success at the recent Dutch National Swimming Championships in Amsterdam.

Lauren, a pupil from Bishop Ramsey School and a member of the English National Talent Level Three Squad, was crowned Dutch National Champion in the 100m and 200m backstroke and the 200m freestyle events.

The 15-year-old also won bronze in the 100m freestyle, clocking new personal bests in all four disciplines and breaking three London region and Middlesex county records in the process. Her new 100m freestyle best of 57.35secs took her to the top of the rankings in the country for her age and she also sits second in the 100m (1.02.75) and 200m (2.15.92) backstroke as well as in the the 200m freestyle (2.02.63).

Older sister Jenna, 17, who is also a member of Ealing Swimming Club and the same English talent squad, shaved three seconds off her 200m freestyle time (2.00.23) and almost two seconds off her 100m freestyle as she finished seventh in the open category.

Coming seventh out of 93 in such a prestigious competition is an excellent result considering the top three finishers included World and European record holders and her slightly faster time of 55.53, set in her heat, also broke the current London region record and ranked her first in the country for her age.

The sisters also gained a bronze medal as Ealing's 4x100m freestyle team grabbed third behind the Dutch women who broke their own world record.
