MARCELLO Trotta has vowed to make amends for his costly penalty miss and prove his doubters wrong.

The Italian returned to Brentford on loan from west London neighbours Fulham this week following a spell at Griffin Park last season.

Trotta scored nine goals in 21 starts for the Bees, but his spot-kick miss against Doncaster Rovers on the final day of the season saw Brentford blow their chances of automatic promotion.

The striker was not the designated penalty taker and refused to hand over the ball to captain Kevin O’Connor before firing against the crossbar.

Trotta’s return has divided opinion among fans, but the 20-year-old is desperate to put things right and help Uwe Rosler’s side to promotion.

He said: “It wasn’t a tough decision to come back. The club and manager wanted me, so I am happy to be here.

"It’s very good for me to be back. Everyone knows me here and I know the way the manager wants to play.

“I know I need to prove myself to some people. The manager and my team-mates are happy for me to help them and I’m desperate to do that even more than last year.

“Most of the fans are behind me and the team. I want to do my best and hopefully I can change the rest of their minds.

“But it's easy to talk. The best thing I can do is show them on the pitch. Hopefully I can do that.

“I still think about that penalty miss sometimes but I have to get over it.

"I can’t change what happened in the past, but I can have a say in the future.”
