TOP seed Jack Townson lived up to his billing on Saturday to land this year’s men’s singles title at Brentham Lawn Tennis Club.

Although opponent Chris Smith fought back well in the second set after, being taken to love, Townson finished the job in a tie-beaker to make it 6-0, 7-6.

In the other showpiece event for open finals day at the Meadvale Road club, Kerstin Williams became the new women’s singles champion after overcoming Tonia Gann 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

The two men’s finalists, Townson and Smith, paired up to beat Michael Adams and William Copalu 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 to be crowned doubles champions, while in the women’s competition, top seeds Juliet Lunn and Janeen Quentin beat Nataliya Baker and Carly Reynolds 6-4, 6-4 in their final.

The mixed doubles champions are Quentin and Smith, who beat Tonia Gann and James Fiordelisi 6-1, 6-3.

Freya Gann and Townson won the mixed doubles plate by beating Mary Walker and Riccardo Lenzi 6-4, 6-1.
