BRANISLAV Ivanovic hailed team-mate Fernando Torres after the striker again showed he is getting back to his best with two goals in the midweek victory over Genk.

The Serbian defender said: “Fernando put in a great performance. He's worked very hard in training and this performance shows the result of how he is working.

“I always said there's no question about Fernando Torres, because he's really great, really professional and always working hard for the team and everyone is happy when goals come to him. We expect more goals from him this season.”

Ivanovic admitted the 5-0 romp against the Belgians was as easy as it gets in the competition and showed how much strength in depth there is at Andre Villas-Boas' disposal.

“Champions League games are never easy, but we started the game very well – very motivated - and scored early goals and after that in a game like this, it's always easier to play,” he said.

“We killed their confidence and it was very hard for them to play an away game like this when Chelsea score these easy goals at the start.

“We controlled the game for 90 minutes and we had some chances to score more goals second half. Unfortunately, we scored just one, but I think 5-0 shows how we dominated the game.

“The manager has a big squad and he can rotate players and he can chose players who are always fresh.”
