ON-FIRE Sam Saunders and loan signings Nathan Byrne and Adam Reed were singled out for special mentions by the boss after Tuesday night's unlucky loss to Brighton.

Saunders (pictured) was in inspired form and forced Albion keeper Casper Ankergren to make at least three sharp saves, while Byrne and Reed, making their first starts, earned top marks from Nicky Forster.

“In Sammy Saunders, I thought we had the best player on the pitch tonight by a long long way,” Forster said.

“I thought out two loan players were brilliant tonight. They rose to the challenge. I thought young Nathan was absolutely exceptional – his attitude, his enthusiasm, his will and his drive.

I thought Adam was superb too, stopping them from getting on the ball and we limited them. “
