BOXER Ryan Toms insists he will make Daryl Setterfield rue the day he asked for a rematch when the two clash again at York Hall on Sunday.

The 28-year-old Northolt roofer won decisively on points when the pair clashed over four rounds at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth in May, despite taking the fight at short notice right on top of his latest boxing medical, and damaging his hand in the second round.

Consequently, the light-middleweight, who trains at Hayes Gym, is surprised Setterfield has asked for another fight over six rounds. With his hand back to 100 per cent and a solid eight weeks of training behind him, Toms vowed to do a proper job on the 25-year-old from Redhill this time around.

He said: "I want to fight him again to be fair, just to shut him up - he's heading for a shock this time.

"I had to lose about nine pounds in a week before our last fight and have my hepatitis B jabs for my medical. I only did four rounds of sparring and I felt awful because I wasn't fit, but I still battered him.

"This time I'm the fittest I've ever been for a fight.

"His manager reckons he's better over six rounds, but he was

blowing after three last time so I think he's just a four round fighter.

"He's decent but he's not in my class."

With his manager Dave Currivan trying to get Toms a British Masters title fight with higher ranked Pat McAleese in December, the former army man and father of one knows he cannot afford to slip up against Setterfield, who remains above him in the British ranking list.

But Toms remains supremely confident.

He added: "He (Setterfield) has got nothing else he can show me. I expect he'll come hard at me for two rounds and try and blow me away because that's all he's got.

"He's gritty and he can take a shot but so can lots of boxers. And he can't box off the back foot so when I start backing him up he won't be able to handle it."
