MARCUS Bean has warned Brentford can forget about the play-offs unless they learn how to close games down.

The Bees were leading 1-0 at Colchester going into the last 20 minutes at Colchester on Tuesday night.

However, despite looking at ease with their lead, Brentford suddenly collapsed and went down 2-1 to a late Steve Gillespie double.

Bean said: “We felt really comfortable, and they weren't really troubling us at all, but five or 10 minutes of madness cost us the points.

“They piled on the pressure, brought their big men on, started putting the ball into dangerous areas, and we couldn't cope with it.

“We need to learn how to see out games like that. We were lacking that little bit of experience which allows you do that.

“However, the ability to keep calm and keep it tight is the difference between teams who make the play-offs and those who miss out.”
