A KENSINGTON footballer hopes that when he bought the equivalent of a lottery ticket his six numbers come up in the form of a professional contract.

England U18 winger Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick has entered the Samsung’s Win A Pro Contract competition, in which three winners are guaranteed one-year deals with one of three different Football League clubs.

Hippolyte-Patrick has hit three goals in five international appearances, and is confident he has what it takes to end up at Swindon Town, Leyton Orient or Wycombe Wanderers.

The teenager from Delgarno Gardens, Kensington plays for Barnet FC youth, but has set his sights higher.

“When I played for Middlesex County, a coach saw me and put me up for England trials. I went through so many rounds,” he said.

“Now I’ve got the experience of playing internationals against Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland, as well as Valencia’s academy.

“I know how and when to impress the coaches. It was an honour to play for England, but this is my chance to crack on and take the final step to becoming a professional.”

For the first time since the competition began in 2010, three contracts are on offer as Wycombe join Samsung’s existing partnerships with Swindon and Orient.

Amateur players of all abilities can enter, and hopefuls will be tested at regional trials and matches as they bid to realise their dream of becoming a professional.

Last year’s winners, Jack Sherratt and Kayden Jackson, signed for Orient and Swindon respectively, and hope to make their first-team debuts next season.
