CLEVELAND Taylor has warned wing-wonder John Bostock he faces a fight for his shirt.

The Spurs star went straight into the Brentford side for Saturday’s draw with Millwall, while Taylor warmed the bench.

However, the 26-year-old, who only joined from Carlisle in the summer, produced a stunning display in the FA Cup first round replay win against Gateshead three days later, with Bostock away on England U19 duty.

And Taylor is ready to rise to the challenge posed by the former Crystal Palace youngster.

He said: "I’ve been in and out of the side at the moment, and the gaffer’s been emphasising to me to get at the full-backs and take them on.

"Hopefully I’ve shown what I can do. I’ve got competition on the wing with John coming in.

"You can go either way, sit there and sulk or you can get on with it. It's a challenge, not just for me, but for the whole midfield.

"When quality players come in you can only take it as a challenge."

Sam Saunders should increase the competition on the right flank, as the Bees take on Walsall on Saturday and Wycombe on three days later, if he recovers from illness, which caused him to miss the past two games.

Boss Andy Scott said: "Sam’s ill. He came in on Monday and did a bit of running but still felt rough. Hopefully he’ll recover by the weekend."
