A DAVE Tarpey double dumped Hayes & Yeading out of the FA Trophy at the first round stage on Saturday.
The Hampton & Richmond striker netted a second-half brace as the Beavers swept aside their Blue Square Premier opponents at the Beveree.
United started slowly but wenr closest in the first half, with Toby Ajala and Tom Collins both going close. But Hampton came out strongly after the interval and Tarpey opened the scoring eight minutes after the restart, dinking the ball over James Beasant having been put through by Joel Ledgister.
Pierre Joseph-Dubois thought he had found an equaliser just after the hour mark, however the linesman’s flag denied the visitors a lifeline.
Buoyed by the decision, Hampton struck the killer blow five minutes later as Tarpey bagged his second, tapping home from close-range after Beasant had saved from Louie-Rae Beadle.
United failed to really test Craig Ross who had a quiet second-half between the sticks, and when Ryan Crockford sent a late free-kick sailing over the crossbar, with it went their hopes of progressing on the road to Wembley as the Beavers held out for a deserved victory.
