The annual Middlesex Age Group Cham-pionships have started well for Ealing Swimming Club - with 63 medals scooped up at Southbury Road Pool, Enfield.

In the first of three weekends of competition in individual 50m races as well as distance and relay events, the club notched up a total of 27 golds, 22 silvers and 14 bronze medals.

Gina Heyn won all four 50m races in the 17/o age group, closely followed by Melako Coker, who achieved first places in the butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke, with a silver in the freestyle.

Heyn's time of 32.42 in the 50m breaststroke was a new London Region, Middlesex and club record.

Charlie Turner won the 50m freestyle and butterfly with Tariq Miller winning the backstroke, coming second in the breaststroke and third in the butterfly.

Katie Simms picked up golds in the butterfly and freestyle as did Eamon Haroun in the 12 years age band, to which he added gold for the 800m freestyle.

Simms was also second in the 50m breaststroke.

Maisie Jameson and Omar Haroun both won golds in the 10 years category - Haroun for the breaststroke and Jameson for the backstroke and Aaron Pullen won the 11 years breaststroke plus a silver in the 800m and bronze in the 50m freestyle.

In the distance events, Rohan Singh won the 1,500m freestyle and Ramsey Haroun took the 800m. Singh also won silver in the 800m freestyle and 50m backstroke and a bronze in the 50m freestyle.

Laura Curran came second in the 1,500m freestyle and third in the 800m and Ellie Price came third in the 800m freestyle.

Other silver medals were won by Joao Matias (50m butterfly and backstroke), Ade Coker (50m breaststroke and freestyle), Ella Kirby (50m butterfly and breaststroke with bronze in the freestyle), Alex Bandarian (50m butterfly), Sian McDonnell and Laura McDonnell (both 50m breaststroke), Tom Brommage (50m breaststroke with bronze in the 800m freestyle) and Elizabeth Griskova (50m freestyle).

Bronze medals went to Lucy Thornton (5 0 m freestyle) Hannah Cierebiej Jeffery (50m backstroke) and Sebastien Bordonnat (50m freestyle).

Other swimmers who earned top eight places were Charlotte Fairclough, Naima Camara, Bethan Hall-Jones, Kieran Clarke, Annabel Jones, Francesca Garland, Sally Moore and Craig Pedersen.

There were also many relay medals for Ealing's dynamic young squad.
