HEADS or tails Brentford reckon they're onto a winner courtesy of Farid El Alagui who has one of the weirdest goal celebrations in football.

The former Falkirk frontman kissed a pound coin every time he hit the back of the net for the Scottish side – and he plans to continue the trend following his summer move to Griffin Park .

Superstitious El Alagui was a cult hero for the Bairns after smashing 27 goals in all competitions last campaign.

And he hopes to be quids in again when the Bees begin their League One campaign at Bury on Saturday.

He said: “It's a funny story. When I first came to Falkirk I found a one pound coin on the pitch in the warm-up and gave it to the coach.

“It thought it was lucky, so when I scored I went over and kissed the coin and have been doing it ever since.

“The assistant manager was superstitious so I need to find someone here or it won't work!

“The coin is in a safe place and I'll be taking it with me for our first game.”

El Alagui admits it's a dream come true to finally get the opportunity to play in England.

The French-born forward is a boyhood pal of Arsenal's Marouane Chamakh after growing up together in Bordeaux.

And the 27-year-old hopes to follow in his mate's footsteps on proving himself in the English game.

“As a kid I always used to watch English football on TV, so now I'm here I want to make my mark,” he added.

“It's a dream come true to finally get the opportunity to play in England. I've come here to hopefully show what I can do.”
