MIDDLESEX CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION FOUR

Rajput Samaj 234-6 dec

Rosslyn 236-6

Rajput Samaj lost by four wickets

NOT even a stunning 98 in 101 balls from Dhiren Darbar was enough to save Rajput Samaj from defeat on Saturday.

Darbar tore apart opponents Rosslyn, hitting all around the wicket with splendid cover drives, which gained him 10 boundaries and five towering sixes.

Supported by Rishiraj Rathod, who was unbeaten on 31, and Romit Patel’s 24, Rajput felt confident to declare at 234 for 6 after 46 overs, allowing Rosslyn to bat 54 overs.

But Rajput were made to regret the decision to give their opponents nine extra overs as it ultimately cost them victory, Rosslyn scoring 236-6 in 53.4 overs.

There was better news the following day when Rajput’s Sunday firsts reached the semi-finals of the Middlesex Premier Cricket League Cup with a 54-run win over the club’s own Sunday seconds. A fifth-wicket stand of 44 runs between Harjot Sidhu (41) and Nilesh Patel (29) helped the firsts reach 170 all out in 32.5 overs, with Tejas Sharma taking 3-32 and Bhavesh Sharma 3-18 for the seconds, before the accurate and hostile and bowling of the firsts saw the seconds bowled out for 116 in 34 overs.
