DAVID Clarkson has given the green light to extend his stay at Brentford – although the on-loan Bristol City striker admits any deal may be scuppered by the managerial vacancy at Ashton Gate.

The Scotland international has made four appearances for the Bees, scoring one goal, since his switch to Griffin Park last month, but the 26-year-old is due to return to the Championship club after Saturday's clash with Scunthorpe.

Clarkson, who scored his first goal for the Bees in last weekend's draw at Carlisle, thought his days with the Robins were numbered before Keith Millen left the club last week.

And he admits his future is up in the air.

“I've enjoyed my time at Brentford,” said the former Motherwell frontman, “and played a few games which has given me confidence.

“I feel like I'm in between clubs at the moment because I don't know what's going on at Bristol City.

“But if Brentford want to extend my loan it's something I will have to look at because I'm getting games here.

“My loan's coming to an end just as I'm getting into a run.”
