AFTER losing on penalties in the Wealdstone Summer sixes final two weekends ago to a select Chelsea Academy team, playing under the guise of Penn and Tyler, Wealdstone under-11s learned from experience with their own shoot-out win to claim the St Albans City Youth tournament.

After a sleepy start and first match defeat, Wealdstone B went on to win their group comfortably with four consecutive wins. The winning run continued through the quarters and semifinals until a tired performance in the final forced another penalty decider.

Two great saves from Andrew Norton-Scott, and goals from Jack Smith, Eddid Ndi, Toby Saunders and Daniel Williams, sealed the Ben Lacey Memorial Shield. Star player of the day went to Jack Smith for his many goals and flexible defensive teamwork.

Wealdstone A team, however, were on the receiving end of a dramatic shoot-out. Despite winning three and drawing two group games they finished joint second with equal goal difference and, unfortunately, were knocked out.
