HARLEE Dean would be happy to extend his stay at Brentford – but admits he is in the dark as to what his future holds lies ahead for him.

The Southampton centre-back's loan at Griffin Park comes to an end next Sunday, giving him three more games in a Bees shirt.

And although he would like to stay beyond his initial spell, Dean's future beyond January 8 has not been discussed, he revealed.

“I'm hoping to stay, but nothing has been said yet,” said Dean. “But to be fair, I don't get involved much in the discussions, it will be between Brentford and Southampton.

“I didn't have my best of games on Boxing Day, but you have games like that in football. All in all, I'm really enjoying my time here, and I feel I'm building a good understanding with Jake Bidwell, who arrived on the same day as me.

“We're living in the same hotel in Brentford, which helps too. Hopefully Jake will stay on as well, because is a great player and has a great future ahead of him.”

Two of Dean's three remaining games, as it stands, come in the next three days, when Brentford host high-flying MK Dons today, before travelling to leaders Charlton on Monday – but he remains confident.

Dean added: “We set ourselves a target of seven points over the three festive games, and that's one, but we have to see it as a point gained rather than two lost – and that last-minute goal will give us the confidence to bounce back.”
