SKY Draper sounded an ominous warning to her cross country rivals after storming to victory in the opening fixture of the new season.

The 14-year-old built a 25 second lead towards the end of the 3k race at Horsendon Hill, Perivale, which saw 200 youngsters from eight running clubs competing.

The national U17 triathlon champion, running for Harrow AC, made short work of the first North West London Young Athletes’ League meeting, but insisted there is more to come.

"I’m really pleased to have started the cross country season with a win,î said the Northwood College pupil. ìI believe I can improve quite a bit further yet and I look forward to the first meeting of the Chiltern Cross Country League on Saturday in Oxford.
