MIDDLESEX CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION ONE
Crouch End 130 all out
Osterley won by seven wickets
LEG SPIN wizard Yaseen Khan claimed a six-wicket haul as Osterley displayed their title credentials with a comprehensive win over early pace-setters Crouch End on Saturday.
The reigning champions kept up the pressure on both Crouch End and leaders Middlesex Tamils with a seven-wicket victory, thanks to Khan’s bowling.
He led the way with 6-38 as the north Londoners were dismissed for just 130 in 54 overs, and it took just 31.2 for Osterley to wrap up the win for the loss of three wickets.
Club chairman Shaheen Rizvi said: “We only really lost one wicket as, with victory looking certain, we put in a couple of young tail-enders to give them a bit of experience. I don’t think Crouch End were that strong at all, it will probably be between us and the Tamils for the title again.”
Naeem Afzal’s unbeaten knock of 84 helped Osterley’s seconds make it a double by beating Crouch End’s seconds by 44 runs.
But it’s the U21s side who are really making waves at the club, having won their first three games in the Middlesex Development League.
Osterley are the only non-Middlesex County League club to have a side in it, and they have made a great start with wins over Barnes, Sheen Park and Richmond.
