SHEFFIELD United have offered a trial to last season’s Hayes & Yeading captain Sam Cox.
The Blades will run the rule over the former Tottenham Hotspur youngster this week.
We exclusively revealed that Cox would not be renewing his Hayes & Yeading contract as he looks to further his career.
A step up to League One football with the Bramall Lane outfit would certainly be a step back towards the midfielder’s Premier League roots.
But the Sheffield club are not alone in showing an interest in the talented 22-year-old and one Scottish team have already taken a look at last season’s Player of the Year.
Further enquiries have been made for Cox and another trial with a team in the south of England will follow next week.
Cox made 44 appearances in the middle of the park for Hayes & Yeading and chipped in with three goals as United secured Blue Square South safety after a difficult season in 2012-13.
Meanwhile, another two of United’s stars from last season have earned trials with Dundee as Kudus Oyenuga and Calum Butcher try to seal deals at the SPL club.
