ANDY Scott has warned Brentford FC fans new signing Leon Legge is not the next Sam Wood.
Left-winger Wood (pictured) signed from non-league Bromley this time last year and took to league football like a duck to water, going on to become the club's player of the year.
Scott again delved into the non-league market this week to snap up Legge, a 24-year-old centre-back from Tonbridge Angels.
But the Bees boss said: “We signed Sam from a slightly higher level than Leon, and he had a lot of games under his belt.
“Leon is more one for the future and won't be thrown in straight away. We want to develop him and help him realise his potential.
“He is 6ft 3ins and very brave, he will header a tackle, and has all the physical attributes to make the step up.
“He's also got a good long thrown and knows where the net is too, scoring 10 goals last season, including a hat-trick (against Ashford Town (Middx)).
“We've watched him nine times, and he had a trial at Charlton too. And at aged 24, he thought this would be his last chance of breaking into league football.”
