Parkfield & Headstone (131-7) beat St Albans West Indians (129ao) by three wickets

IAN Schmid impressed with both bat and ball as his Parkfield side scalped the Indians at Saddles Mead on Saturday.

He took 3-41 while Tim Garnon Williams claimed 2-12 to help polish off their opponents for 129, and then hit an impressive 78 in Parkfield's reply.

However, it was a nervy finish with Andrew Ward and veteran Gerry Bloomfield hitting the winning runs with just three wickets left.

An even more tense finale ensued at Offley and Stopsley where the second XI put in a tremendous performance, bowling out the Saracens Herts League Division Nine leaders for 118.

Kamal Mistry, bowling unchanged for 15 overs, claimed 5-27. But despite a fine effort from Craig Rivers (47) Parkfield fell short of the target by just two runs.

There were no such problems for the third XI who hosted Shenley Village in Division 12. The visitors were dismissed for just 53 with Vic Mayers claiming five wickets and Pareet Sodha adding three more to his season's tally. In reply, Parkfield lost just two wickets to secure a comfortable victory.
