JEFFREY Schlupp snubbed Germany U19s to fire Brentford to victory at Griffin Park .

The on-loan Leicester City striker was due to miss the JPT warm-up through international duty, but turned down the chance to play for his country to bag his first professional goals and give the Bees the mental edge ahead of next week's clash at Wembley.

The hosts had a let off early on when Craig Curran charged down Simon Moore's kick, but fortunately the Brentford keeper got the luck of the bounce and cleared the danger.

However, the youngster had to be at his best moments later to deny the Carlisle striker, with Craig Woodman mopping up the loose ball.

At the other end, Marcus Bean saw a goalbound header blocked on the line after he met Myles Weston's corner.

Brentford lost Robbie Neilson through injury, and Curran came within a whisker of giving the visitors the lead midway through the second-half, only to see his effort drift wide.

But it was the Bees went up the other end and broke the deadlock almost instantly.

Schlupp got the run of the ball in the box, and he lashed the ball home left-footed past Adam Collin.

And the German-Ghanaian striker wrapped up victory minutes later.

Carlisle failed to clear Sam Wood's free-kick, and Schlupp was on hand to slam the ball through a box full of bodies into the back of the net.

The visitors pulled one back late on to ensure a nervy finish when Lubomir Michalik fired home a free-kick from the edge of the box.

But Bees stood strong to hold on to the points.
