SAM Saunders plans to sit down with Uwe Rosler in the next fortnight to thrash out his Brentford future.

The midfielder came off the bench to inspire the Bees to a stunning comeback against Swindon on Tuesday night to get their promotion bid back on track following two successive losses.

However, Saunders is out of contract in the summer, and faces a battle to reach the number of starts required to trigger the automatic extension.

The 29-year-old has featured 32 times this season, but 18 of those have come from the bench.

And Saunders will speak to boss Rosler later this month about extending his four-year stay at Griffin Park.

He said: “I don't want to be out of contract along with hundreds of other players in the summer.

“I have been at Brentford for four seasons and am settled here. The playing style suits me, I get on with the fans and there's a great bunch of lads at the club.

“But I'm not here to just pick up my pay cheque. I'm not happy when I'm not playing and it hurts when I'm not involved.

“The gaffer said they will speak to me in the next couple of weeks about my future, so I will hear what they have to say.”

Brentford go into tomorrow's clash with Preston third in the table after Saunders and Clayton Donaldson scored to sink Swindon.

And Saunders has urged his team-mates to build on their momentum as the promotion race hots up.

He added: “The Swindon result was massive because if we had lost it would've been tough.

“We need to go on a run now, but there will be seven or eight other clubs who will be thinking the same.

“There's still plenty more twists and turns to come.”
