BRENTFORD midfielder Sam Saunders could be back for Tuesday night's trip to Sheffield Wednesday.

The former Dagenham flyer has been sidelined with an ankle injury since the victory at Charlton Athletic earlier this month.

However, Saunders has now returned to light training, and will be fit for Sunday's JPT final against Carlisle, if not earlier.

Boss Nicky Forster said: "Sam has started running. He is pretty much there.

"He will certainly be fit at some stage this week. As to when we will wait and see."

However, the visit up the M1 will come too soon for Robbie Simpson .

The on-loan Huddersfield Town hitman is nursing an ankle injury, but should be ready for next weekend's clash at Wembley.
