UWE ROSLER has told his players they risk becoming distracted in their work by engaging in feuds with fans through Twitter.

Several players communicate with Bees fans through the social networking site, but it has led to at least one case of discord between players and fans.

Leon Legge (pictured) reacted to the boos from some fans after last week's FA Cup exit against Wrexham by voicing his annoyance and frustration on Twitter.

Rosler says he can see the pitfalls and wants his players to be more aware of the potential for problems.

“I'm not a fan of twitter. I said it from day one,” he said after Saturday's victory over Hartlepool.

“I think you open yourself up for criticism, you open yourself up for distraction.

“I like to deal with my players as grown up people. They have families, they have kids. But we also have some players who are 18, 19, 20 years old and they sometimes don't see the whole picture or the consequences of it, and that's what we told them.

“They must make choices in life by themselves and we expect players to make good choices off the field. We talked a lot about it this week in our meeting – talking about the consequences of opening yourself up.”

Rosler added: “For me, you connect with the supporters in the stadium and when we have supporters' club meetings, that is the way to connect with supporters.”
