MANAGER Uwe Rosler praised veteran Kevin O'Connor for his performance as emergency centre-back at Hartlepool on Saturday.
The Bees midfielder was drafted in, having barely featured since being injured in November, to cover for the suspended Tony Craig at a day's notice.
It is a role O'Connor is likely to reprise for this Saturday's winner-takes-all clash with promotion rivals Doncaster at Griffin Park.
Rosler said: “Kevin has not played much but has worked very hard on the training ground, and it has paid off for him.
“He and Harlee Dean have not played together at all, apart from about half a game at Sheffield United, and to do so well as a partnership off the back of that is a testament to them both.
“After Kevin got booked he was under massive pressure not to get sent off, but he coped with that very well too.”
