BRENTFORD boss Uwe Rosler reckons the 5-0 Capital One Cup defeat at Derby is a learning curve for some of his youngsters.
Josh Clarke and Alfie Mawson made their first-team debuts at Pride Park, while development squad regulars Aaron Pierre and Luke Norris were also given opportunities to impress.
And Rosler, who defended his decision to make 10 changes from the side that beat Walsall, believes his young players will take a lot from the experience, despite the heavy reverse.
He said: “Those players learned more tonight than they would do playing another 15 development games.
“It was a great experience and learning curve for them.
“Some of them like Josh Clarke showed his talent in periods and Luke Norris battled away when he came on up front.”
Kevin O'Connor, Toumani Diagouraga, Scott Barron and Sam Saunders also got valuable game time under their belts.
Rosler added: “I wanted Scott Barron to get minutes – I knew he wouldn't play the whole game.
“Sam Saunders is in consideration for the weekend and did well in the first half.”
