BRENTFORD boss Uwe Rosler insists he has no regrets over his decision to field a weakened team in the 5-0 Capital One Cup defeat at Derby.

Rosler made 10 changes from the side that beat Walsall at the weekend, with left-back Scott Barron the only survivor.

Jake Bidwell, Will Grigg and Conor McAleny have been added to the injury list in recent weeks, and the German admits he couldn't risk losing any more players for their League One promotion push.

He said: “I lost three players last week from my starting line-up at Gillingham and we've got a JPT game next week where we have to use six of the players who played the previous game.

“I know it was a big risk that we would get beaten but it was a big opportunity for the young players who will learn a lot from the challenge.

“We gifted them the first goal and didn't keep on doing what we had done for the first 20 minutes.

“In the second half some players gave up. I expected more from some of the senior players.

“We move on. We have a clear target this season and this defeat doesn't change that.”
