TWO goals in four crazy minutes fired AFC Wimbledon to a convincing victory over Fleetwood Town this afternoon.

Harry Pell rammed home a penalty and Michael Smith added a second in four chaotic first-half minutes to keep the Dons' 100 per cent home record intact.

Neal Ardley made two changes to the side that won so dramatically last week against Scunthorpe as Jim Fenlon and George Francomb came in for Callum Kennedy and Charlie Sheringham.

Fleetwood number four Stewart Murdoch rattled Ross Worner's crossbar early on with a stinging long-range drive that had the Wimbledon keeper well beaten.

Francomb was next to to go close and curled a 25-yard free-kick just over after George Porter was cynically brought down just as he was about to pull the trigger.

Former Norwich youngster Francomb was again threatening down the right as half-time drew nearer, robbing Stephen Jordan of possession and setting up Luke Moore for a decent opportunity.

At the other end, The Cod Army tried desperately to force the ball over the line but some scrappy Dons defending and a sprawling Worner managed to snuff out the danger.

With just minutes to go before the interval, it looked like neither side would find the breakthrough, however the moments of mayhem that followed would change the course of the match.

Fleetwood skipper Mark Roberts stuck out and arm to concede a penalty. Pell, in the absence of last week's taker Sheringham, stepped up and confidently found the bottom corner.

That goal made Ardley's team-talk a little bit easier and there was still time for one more.

Francomb, who was terrific in the first period, cut inside and sent in a cross which was deflected by a Town defender and Smith was on hand to knock in a second before the break.

Smith carried his momentum into the second period and put in a solid display while leading the line as a loan striker, although Scott Davies had little to do in the Fleetwood goal.

Ardley gave the on-loan Charlton forward some help shortly after the hour by replacing the excellent Francomb with Jack Midson and reverting to a 4-4-2 formation.

Midson looked all fired up after coming on and immediately Davies was put to work by the striker with a powerful low drive. Smith then nodded wide after a fine flowing Wimbledon move.

Fleetwood's defence had their hands full but it remained at two, but that was enough to secure maximum points and move the Dons up into third place in League Two.
