TOMMY Smith insists Rangers won't blow their promotion chances as the Championship season reaches its climax.

Neil Warnock's men extended their lead at the top to 10 points with Saturday's win against Crystal Palace , and they also have superior goal difference.

And Smith, who made his first start since returning from a hamstring injury, reckons QPR will hold their nerve in the final nine games.

He said: "I'm very confident the boys won't blow it. We're trying not to look too far in front, and we've been like that all season."

The hoops bounced back from Tuesday night's reverse at Millwall – only their fourth loss of the season – in fine fashion at Loftus Road thanks to Heidar Helguson's double.

Smith added: "If we win our home games and pick up a couple away from home that should be enough."
