NEIL Warnock says he will be wary of not rocking the boat when it comes to January transfers – having once resisted the temptation to sign Paul Gascoigne .

The QPR boss will be on the lookout for new signings to help his side go on and clinch promotion, but keeping the current happy formula is uppermost in his mind.

"I don't want to unsettle anything now," Warnock said.

"I will only bring players in if I think they will improve us and we have to be a bit careful because we don't want to bring anybody in for the sake of it.

"I remember at Sheffield United one of the directors saying we could bring Paul Gascoigne in when I first went there because it would put thousands on the gate.

"But I said what happens if we lose the first three games we play him? Will be still get thousands on the gate? I think you can get a bit carried away with names."

Warnock added: "The temptation is definitely to stick. We've done all the hard work getting the players in. It takes a lot of doing to get 10 players in and then get them playing the way they have.

"It shows how much they've come on board, because for a lot of them, it's been a bit strange working with me when they've not worked with me before."
