HARROW Athletic Club's junior (U20) team produced a great display to finish fifth in the second round of the National Junior League Southern Premier Division at Eton on Sunday, writes Tony Bush.

The Premier Division features the top eight clubs in the South of England and competition is fierce in almost every event. Lewis Roualt produced a fast time of 21.82 to win the 200m. Jerome Musa-Lawal,16, also ran superbly to clock 22.14 in the B event, after clocking a quick 10.93 in the 100m.

Sonny Flynn continued his fine season by finishing second in the 400m in a fast 49.15. Andrew Kendall took the B string in 49.07.

Kadeem Greenidge-Smith was in good form, winning the long jump with 7.10m. Felix Maisey-Curtis took the B string with 6.55m. James Okemyemi was again over 14m in the triple jump but found his 14.31m leap good enough for only fourth place in a strong line-up.

Marilyn Nwawulor returned to action and won the high jump with a good 1.70m leap. Her sister Georgina made it a family double, taking the B string with 1.60.

Marilyn also took second spot in the long jump with 5.63m while Alice Humble was in good form in the pole vault, clearing 3.05m to share second spot.

Philippa Lowe took the 800m field through a fast first lap (62.6) before finishing second in 2.13.60 to qualify for the English Schools championships. Leigh Lattimore was also in good form, coming second in the 1,500m in 4.43.77.

Meanwhile, Harrow's British League manager, Damian Nevins, smashed his personal best in clocking 14.53.32 for 5,000m in the British Milers Club event at Watford on Saturday, beating his previous time by more than 20 seconds.

Matt Carey also set new figures, recording 3.58.12 in the 1,500m. Harry Webb (3.52.69) and Ben Warren (3.56.21) were also in good form while Peter Norris (4.13.88) was below his best after a recent ankle injury.

Elsewhere, Adam Bowden continued his impressive start to his triathlon career by finishing a superb second in the elite Nokia Windsor event on Sunday, only his third Olympic distance event.

He finished 15th in the opening River Thames 1,500m swim, clocking 19.54. He was seventh after the 40km bike with a fast 58.15, the fourth best bike leg of the day.
