BRENTFORD could be priced out of a move for Ipswich defender Pim Balkestein before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Boss Andy Scott admitted after Tuesday’s 3-3 draw with Colchester that talks are still on going to try and land the former Bees loanee before the window slams shut.

But financial constraints mean Scott may have to return for the Dutchman once the season is over.

He said: "We’re still speaking to Ipswich about bringing Pim back, but it doesn’t look like it’ll happen before Thursday.

"The conversations we have had with Ipswich have been positive, but whether we can do it before the window closes financially-speaking is another matter.

"The performances of Leon Legge and Karleigh Osborne mean it is not critical, but if we got any more injuries at centre-back, we’d be a bit light there."
