Hounslow's Rajiv Ouseph produced a high-quality performance to defeat third seed Hans-Kristian Vittinghus and reach the semi-finals of the INTERSPORT European Championships in the Kazan this afternoon.
Ouseph is now aiming to improve on his senior bronze in Manchester four years ago after ensuring himself at least a bronze with a 15-21 21-15 21-11 victory in Russia.
In the semi-final tomorrow (starting at 9am), the fifth seed will face unseeded Vladimir Ivanov, having won the two previous meetings with the 6ft 5in Russian, both in three games.
He went into today’s match level at 3-3 in head to heads, but boosted by his most recent win over Vittinghus in the European men’s team championships in February when England took the silver medal.
The other semi-final will be an all-Danish clash between top seed Jan O Jorgensen and fourth seed Viktor Axelsen.
