BRENTFORD will discover the full extent of Dale Bennett's knee injury in the next few days.

The on-loan Watford defender got his studs caught in the turf during training on Friday, and has returned to Vicarage Road to be assessed.

Bennett still has almost three weeks to run on his spell at Griffin Park, but boss Uwe Rosler doesn't expect the 21-year-old to be able to complete his loan at the club.

He said: “I'm shocked. Dale's been waiting for the chance to play first-team football and finally got it with us.

“We need to wait for the results of the scan to see how serious the injury is.

“He's still contracted with us for another 20 days, but it's unlikely he will recover in time.

“It's really unlucky. We wish him a speedy recovery and we'll keep in touch because he's a good player.”
