KEVIN O'Connor says Brentford are out to heap more misery on crisis-club Portsmouth tomorrow.

Cash-strapped Pompey look doomed to another relegation as their slide down the leagues continue, despite the recent takeover of the club by the Portsmouth Supporters' Trust.

And while O'Connor admits it's sad to see the plight of the 2008 FA Cup winners, the Bees have their own problems as they look to ramp up their automatic promotion bid with three points at Griffin Park.

“They have got problems, but there's nothing we can do about that,” said Brentford's club captain, who suffered a serious ankle injury in the reverse fixture at Fratton Park in November.

“We've got to treat it as any other game and go out there and try and win.

“No one wants to see a club like that in the mess they're in – it was only a few years ago they were lifting the FA Cup and playing in the Premier League.

“It's sad what's happened to them, but we've got a job to do.

“It's dog-eat-dog, we're not in a position to do them a favour. We desperately need the three points as well.”

Portsmouth are two points adrift of safety with three games left, although they have yet to be hit by the 10-point deduction for entering administration.

And O'Connor says he's been shocked by the club's downward spiral.

He added: “When you look at some of the names on their teamsheet you wouldn't expect them to be in the position they're in.

“I've played against them many times but for whatever reason it hasn't happened for them.

“It's unfortunate and not nice to see, but that's football.”

Supporters are reminded that Brentford's final two home games, against Portsmouth and Doncaster Rovers, are all ticket and must be purchased in advance.

Tickets are available from the club’s ticket office at Griffin Park, which is open until 4pm today (Friday). No tickets are available on the day of the game.

They can bought in person or ordered by telephone on 0845 3456 442.
