KEVIN O'Connor's first-half penalty proved the difference as Brentford earned a hard-fought win against Wycombe.

The Bees captain slotted home from 12 yards 10 minutes before the interval to secure maximum points at Adams Park.

The visitors almost took the lead inside 30 seconds, but former Bee Nikki Bull blocked Marcus Bean's left-footed effort.

Brentford dominated the opening exchanges and eventually took the lead on 35 minutes.

James Tunnicliffe shoved over Clayton Donaldson in the box, and O'Connor stepped up to send Bull the wrong way from the penalty spot.

The Bees had Richard Lee to thank for keeping their lead in tact when he did well to deny Ben Strevens soon after as Uwe Rosler's men went in ahead at the break.

Wycombe improved after the interval, Stuart Lewis and Scott Donnelly denied by Lee, while Strevens headed against the woodwork.

Lee came to Brentford's rescue again 15 minutes from time when he palmed away Donnelly's goalbound effort, while he thwarted Andy Sandell moments later.

But Bees held firm to record a second-successive win on the road.

BEES: Lee, Thompson, Osborne, Eger, Woodman, Douglas, O'Connor (Llera 75), Bean, Wood (Forrester 82), Donaldson, Weston (McGinn 61).

Subs (not used): Moore, Grella.
