MIDDLESEX PREMIER LEAGUE Teddington 246 all out (57.4 overs) Shepherd's Bush 90 all out Teddington (10pts) beat Bush (0pts) by 156 runs

JACK BRYDON saved Bush from the shame of posting the lowest first-class total in the club's 127-year history on Saturday.

At 19-7, it looked as if the relatively massive 75 posted three years ago against Wembley would be well out of reach.

But a series of smart shot selections, including seven fours from the Bush wicketkeeper to get to 55no, aided and abetted with a slice of luck handed to his last two partners, inched the score to only the fifth-worst. For the third week out of four it was left to the lower order to take the game beyond 6pm on Saturday - and Brydon's knock showed how it should be done.

But when Bush last batsman Del Mian, who had earlier taken a decent 4-45, was run out, it was too much for one of his team's supporters.

"Rubbish", the fan muttered. Not quite, but some of the earlier batting most certainly was.

Annoyingly, the game had earlier been well within Bush's reach when they had Teddington on 116-5.

But the first tail of the match wagged ferociously to post 246.
