Northwood lost to Reed by eight wickets

NORTHWOOD were unable take their chances as they fell to a one-wicket defeat against Reed on Saturday, writes Miguel Assunçao.

The team started nervously and found themselves two wickets down in the third over with just a single run on the board.

Tom Brockton and Simon Noach then made 40 and 39 respectively. But they were removed in quick succession, leaving Northwood on a precarious 84-4. A lower order collapse saw them bowled out for 103.

Northwood began brightly in the field and Paul Richardson's three quick wickets left Reed on 41-3. Ross Noach bagged five, but Reed managed to inch ahead with one wicket still standing.

Farnham Royal 169 all out Hillingdon Manor 170-7 Manor won by three wickets SCOTT Morris took his 60th wicket of the season as Hillingdon won at basement boys Farnham on Saturday.

Morris's 4-45 helped skittle out the hosts for 169, with Paul Everett marking his first XI debut for the season with 2-47.

The Manor response started well, Julian Corbin and Dale Morris adding 72. Azim Karim made a solid contribution, and at 140-3 Hillingdon looked to be sailing home.

But a mini collapse saw them slip to 142-7, before skipper Simon Webb punched the winning runs with eight overs to spare.

Meanwhile, the second XI slipped to a humiliating defeat against rock-bottom Bracknell.

Batting first, Mandeep Sarai (49) and Grant Morris (28) gave them a solid platform, but a great spell of bowling from Paul Dewick limited them to under 150.

The Bracknell response faltered several times, but they staggered home with two wickets to spare.

HILLINGDON are marking their 175th anniversary this year, and to celebrate the club are holding a massive cricket week.

The fun-filled week will begin this Friday until Sunday week.

Fixtures include derbies against Acton (17th) and Hayes (21st), a game against the Thames Valley League's Representative XI (22nd), and a game against a past players XI.

Northchurch 209-9 Northwood Town 132 all out Town lost by 77 runs

TOWN'S battle against the drop suffered a major blow as they lost to fellow strugglers Northchurch on Saturday.

Young spinner Veer Vagdama claimed 4-75 off 16 overs while Johanes Van Ee took 2-31 as the visitors closed their innings on 209-9.

In reply, Town got off to a disastrous start losing their first wicket with just one on the board.

Rohan Lee (26) was given lbw off his bat and although Raj Ahluwalia (27) and Michael Lister (31) played some expansive shots in a 53-run partnership, the inevitable demise was not far off.

Northchuch finally claimed the final wicket as the rain began to tumble down with Town dismissed for just 132.

Thames Valley Division 3B

Hayes 201 (15pts) drew with Chenies & Latimer 182 for 9 (9pts)

CLAUDIUS Wayland's four-wicket haul wasn't enough for Hayes as Chenies's last pair held on for a draw.

Wayland's 4-39 looked like giving them the win, but their opponents batted out the final three overs to salvage a share of

the spoils. Earlier, Hayes had got off to a slow start when Chris Cane was caught with the score at just 25.

From then on wickets tumbled, only Muna Sawant (25) making any impact in the middle order.

At 76-7, Aman Singh joined Rex Kumar at the crease, and together they were two runs short of a new eighth-wicket record.

When Kumar was out for 52 they had chalked up 99 runs, just shy of Hayes's best.

Singh soon followed for 49 as Hayes finished on 201 all out.
